The elders responsibility is for the spiritual welfare and growth in the church.

The leaders in Emmanuel are called Elders after the pattern of the early church. The elders responsibility is for the spiritual welfare and growth in the church. Here the idea of family is adopted in scripture so the elders could be called the mums and dads in the house and are responsible for ensuring that the people in their care grow to maturity and fulfill their full potential in Jesus.

They set the path and course of the family and establish an Ethos and DNA which supports the growth to maturity in the family.

Emmanuel has a governmental relationship with Jubilee Church Maidstone, who provide the Apostolic oversight to Emmanuel and the required accountability to the Elders of Emmanuel. Jubilee Church, Maidstone also have a role in the selection and appointment of Elders.

Andy and Karen Hansen

We met Jesus and received the Holy Spirit in 1974 and were married in 1976 and went on to have 2 sons who are now both married with families of their own. We have been blessed with 3 grandchildren.

In 1991 we were baptised in Emmanuel and moved into youth ministry in Emmanuel in 1992 and have run various youth groups and the Friday night drop in centre for 14 plus ever since. We have been Elders of Emmanuel since 2007.

Our heart has always been for the next generation so legacy is extremely important to us. Our passion is to see people grow to fulfil their full potential.

Philip and Fiona Hansen

Philip and Fiona owe a lot to Emmanuel having met in the youth group 20 years ago. Since then they got married, had 2 children and now live in Strood. They have been involved in various leadership roles within the church until taking up eldership in 2012. They have a passion for seeing the Kingdom established in every area of life, in an authentic way. Philip leads worship at Emmanuel and Fiona heads up the children's ministries.

They also run their own design agency, Open Water, and Fiona works as a civil servant.

Exodus 3:16

Go and gather the elders of Israel together and say to them, ‘The LORD, the God of your fathers, the God of Abraham, of Isaac, and of Jacob, has appeared to me, saying, “I have observed you and what has been done to you in Egypt.
